Adoption Process:
If you see a dog you are interested in adopting, please fill out the adoption application located here------> Adoption Application
Applications must be completed in full, partially filled out ones will not be considered. Applications will not be considered if you have not read the dogs bio in full and do not meet the requirements for that specific dog.
Once we receive the completed application we will contact your references. Once approved we will contact you to set up a visit with the dog(s).
****Please do not show up without a scheduled appointment or approved application. All dog viewing is by appointment only as we work other jobs as well.*****
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:
-Primary applicants must be 21 or older and provide photo ID upon adoption
-Please read through a dogs entire bio before applying so you know that you fit the specific needs and requirements for that dogs new home,-Dogs living in the home currently that are over 8 months old must be spayed/neutered unless medically unable.-Please do not apply for a dog if you are unable to adopt within a week. We are unable to hold dogs due to our small size. Dogs coming into us are coming from local shelters that are euthanizing for space so holding a dog for an extended period does not allow another dog to be saved.
Animals may not be adopted as a "gift" for someone unless all family members are aware of the adoption and meet the animal before the adoption takes place
Dogs must not be left crated for more than 8 hours.
If you have a current pet, they must be up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered. This includes cats. Dogs must have annual vet exams.
If renting, approval from the landlord is required to keep the dog on the premises. If you have a current dog, your pet must meet the new pet before the adoption is finalized to make sure they will be compatible to live together. You will bring your dog to our facility for the meet. We cannot travel to you.If you adopt from Fetch A Friend Rescue and you cannot keep the pet for any reason, you must return the animal to Fetch A Friend Rescue. There is no guarantee that because you apply for the dog that you are going to adopt that dog. We seriously consider all applications but if we should suggest another dog for your home, it is because we truly know these dogs and possibly there is another dog that is a better fit. We strive for as best of a match as possible. Proper placement takes into consideration many things, including size, male/female, activity level, children and ages of the children, fencing or lack of, amount of time dog will spend home alone, and many other considerations. When a dog is posted we may receive up to 50 applications in a matter of hours. You will receive an email if selected to come and meet this dog.

ABOUT ME!: Handsome Porky was found as a stray in the city of Syracuse. He was likely a discarded breeding stud. He has only known love and spoiling since arriving to us! He loves big cozy beds, big stuffed toys, and wearing warm clothes on a cold day! Porky is a gentle giant but also a bull in a china shop! You will need sturdy legs around this bulldozer! He has worked hard on his jumping and impulse control and has done wonders with our trainer. He is so eager to learn and responds amazingly to clicker training and positive reinforcement!
He is low to the ground and a big boy. Porky recently had entropion surgery to correct the eyelid on one of his eyes.
Porky is pretty dog selective and happiest on his own. He will be happy to have a home where he is your one and only baby!
He does not like un altered male dogs and no kitties!
Although he occasionally loves to play with most large females he does not wish to share his home with one. He does not like to share his toys with other dogs.
Porky was heart worm positive when he was found on the streets, likely from life outdoors. Since being with us for so long he is now heart worm treated and tested negative! He will need to remain on heart worm meds for life. He loves going for walks with our volunteers too! This guy walks great on a harness! He loves wearing clothes and won’t go outside in the cold without them on! He is looking for a loving devoted adopter to spoil him rotten.
Porky is neutered, heart worm negative, microchipped, current on vaccinations and parasite preventions! Porky requires a vet reference for adoption. As he requires lifelong heart worm meds and occasional ear meds his adopter will need an existing vet.

ABOUT: Handsome Jordan was found in the city of Syracuse as a stray wandering the streets. After spending time at animal control, he was never reclaimed. As you can see, this sweet boy had his poor ears very poorly chopped off by whoever owned him prior to rescue. Jordan is just a pup still but wants nothing more than love and cuddles. He will chase a ball around the yard- and sure loves to chew on his nylabones and bully make toys! Only durable toys for this power chewer- no stuffed ones please! Jordan loves to give hugs, lean into you for belly rubs, ear rubs and lots of pets! He loves being bathed, is a dream on a leash for walks, has learned his basic commands and is a star with our trainer. Jordan is seeking a home where he will be the one and only pet in your life. Kennel life was really hard on Jordan when he arrived. He was rapidly losing weight and extremely depressed. He has now been here for 7 months waiting for a family and has adjusted to living in a kennel. He has gained all of his weight back and is a much calmer dog in the kennel. He does sleepovers every weekend with our volunteers and they look forward to it every weekend! He is the best cuddler and sleeps all night under the covers with his people! He is a great sleeper and does not wake during the night or have any accidents. He is totally housebroken also!
Everyone who meets Jordan adores him and cannot understand why he is still waiting for a home. The volunteers all cannot wait to take him for walks as he is the best walker!
He is very eager to get into a loving home and provide someone lucky with endless cuddles. Jordan has a lot of love to give and is just the sweetest boy ever.
Jordan is now neutered, heart worm negative, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and current on his parasite preventions.

ABOUT: Handsome Lucky is a sweet young boy who is very submissive to everyone. This calm sweetheart thinks everyone is his boss and he is eager to please. He is a lover who wants to give hugs and be kissed and loved.
He is an adorable brindle boy who deserves all the love in the world. Found as a stray roaming the street, Lucky was found heart worm positive. He has since been treated and completed his month of crate rest. Lucky gets along with all dogs, and will need a home with a fenced yard. When he is feeling nervous he has the urge to bolt. This will subside once he is in a stable home environment. The leash makes him a bit nervous and our trainer is working on boosting his confidence. He responds well to positive reinforcement training and clicker training! No negative training for this boy unless you want to make him lose all trust in you! He is a sensitive soul who responds well to force free methods. He enjoys going for car rides with you and will even hold your hand for emotional support! Lucky is housebroken, always keeps a clean kennel, is learning that toys are fun, and we have never heard this boy bark or whine at all! He would do best with a confident dog in the home that can teach him how to be confident and that the world is not so scary!
Lucky is neutered, heart worm treated, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and parasite preventions.

ABOUT ME!: Sweet Sadie is a lucky girl who is extremely grateful to have been rescued from a life of misery. Her owners were bad people who lost their home and let her go on the street with her brother and parent dogs. They were picked up by animal control but Sadie couldn’t be found. A wonderful family found her hiding in a nearby park and took her home and went door to door looking for her family. They couldn’t find one and took her to us to find her a home. Her original owner did find her and wanted her back to breed her with her brother and parents. We pleaded with them to let us keep her and find her a home but they refused. We ended up paying them to let her stay. Once they saw cash they instantly handed her over without hesitation. We found out she was clipped by a car when they let all of the dogs loose on the street. She was not injured other than a cut on her back leg, but she is now nervous around fast moving cars. She rides well in cars, but out on walks cars flying by make her scared and she runs to the ditch to hide. She would likely not do well in a busy city setting, but will also improve with positive training. Sadie is an active happy girl with a lot of bouncy puppy energy! She needs a home who will provide her plenty of daily mental and physical enrichment!
Sadie is a lucky girl and we are so happy her life will be great now. Sadie deserves the perfect family who will always spoil and love her. Sadie keeps a clean kennel, loves her stuffed toys, a cozy bed, and is not a barker. She is just a sweet quiet girl who wants to be loved. She loves to go for car rides and walks as well! She was raised with young kids, and other dogs but she prefers calm dogs who won’t bully her. Cats scare her so she would like a home without them.
I am spayed, heart worm negative, microchipped, current on vaccinations and parasite preventions!

ABOUT ME!: Adorable Edna is a quirky active little girl seeking a dog experienced owner. She was found starved on streets of Syracuse over the winter and came to us to get healthy and have a fresh start. When she arrived she was very leery of all strangers and did not like anyone. She quickly warmed up to us and went to a foster home to work on her people skills and training. She learned many things while being fostered! She can sit, lay down, stay (briefly), wait at doors (with patience for new doors), come, leave it (when its something she's not suppose to have), and knows to go to her place.
She does guard her own food bowl if there is food in it and if she's a bit stressed. If she gets a hold of something that was not given to her, she doesn't guard it. She seems to understand what is hers to guard and what isn't.
She's super cuddly and affectionate! She will do that with other people she has become comfortable with to an extent. She is still initially fearful of strangers. But if a stranger is sitting on the couch, she'll jump up in their lap and lay down. She just doesn't want pettings. Petting and picking her up is on her terms and she will tell you when she does not want anymore.
She loves to sleep in her crate. Her energy levels seem to match her person. She's happy sleeping all day, or being active all day. She is ready for anything!
She has gone hiking many times, which she can run for a while, and then is happy to travel in a backpack! She likes going for bike rides with her person while riding in a backpack, and she enjoys going kayaking!
She's pretty confident in new situations but still checks in with her comfort person.
She would do best in a quiet home. Loud noises and rambunctiousness puts her on alert and stresses her. She'll need some patience with adjusting to a new environment. Edna is not the ideal companion for a first time dog owner. She has met several new people lately and has done great happily meeting them!
She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and parasite preventions.

Must have a current vet to adopt a puppy. They will need to continue their series of puppy vaccines and be fixed when they are of proper age to do so. A vet reference is required, not optional.
This adorable litter was born on 5/1/22. They were from an oops litter and the owners had no options for the puppies. Mom was a 25 pound wire haired black terrier, Dad was a 50 pound Tan German Shepherd mix. It is unknown how big these puppies will be when full grown but it is likely to be maybe 30-40 pounds if that. They are currently 14 weeks old and weigh between 10 and 14.5 pounds. They unfortunately lived outdoors in a pen from 6 weeks of age until 13 weeks. The owner did not want them in the house and the parents live outdoors as well. We couldn't say no and leave these pups outside any longer. They are the sweetest babies and just want to be held and loved. The poor babies were completely flea infested when we picked them up. They are so happy to have warm beds now, be bathed, flea free and have full happy bellies.
They will make the sweetest companions!

ABOUT ME!: Mindy came to us as a stray from Cayuga County. She was found wandering backroads and likely came from a farm. She spent two months at animal control and no one claimed her. Mindy is the sweetest girl ever. She is a velcro dog who cannot get enough attention from people! When she went to be spayed every staff member at the vet fell in love and could not say enough nice things about this big sweetie. Mindy is housebroken and keeps a very clean kennel. She loves toys, and loves to run and play so a large yard or a farm is a must! She does shed obviously so be prepared for some hair in your life! She was fantastic for her grooming and loved being bathed!
Mindy is not a barker at all and always quiet as can be! She is always smiling and never sad! This girl will bring a smile to anyone's face! She is a very large dog so a home with large breed experience is preferred. She will definitely benefit from some basic obedience training as well!
