Adoption Process:
If you see a dog you are interested in adopting, please fill out the adoption application located here------> Adoption Application
Applications must be completed in full, partially filled out ones will not be considered. Applications will not be considered if you have not read the dogs bio in full and do not meet the requirements for that specific dog.
Once we receive the completed application we will contact your references. Once approved we will contact you to set up a visit with the dog(s).
****Please do not show up without a scheduled appointment or approved application. All dog viewing is by appointment only as we work other jobs as well.*****
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:
-Primary applicants must be 21 or older and provide photo ID upon adoption
-Please read through a dogs entire bio before applying so you know that you fit the specific needs and requirements for that dogs new home,-Dogs living in the home currently that are over 8 months old must be spayed/neutered unless medically unable.-Please do not apply for a dog if you are unable to adopt within a week. We are unable to hold dogs due to our small size. Dogs coming into us are coming from local shelters that are euthanizing for space so holding a dog for an extended period does not allow another dog to be saved.
Animals may not be adopted as a "gift" for someone unless all family members are aware of the adoption and meet the animal before the adoption takes place
Dogs must not be left crated for more than 8 hours.
If you have a current pet, they must be up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered. This includes cats. Dogs must have annual vet exams.
If renting, approval from the landlord is required to keep the dog on the premises. If you have a current dog, your pet must meet the new pet before the adoption is finalized to make sure they will be compatible to live together. You will bring your dog to our facility for the meet. We cannot travel to you.If you adopt from Fetch A Friend Rescue and you cannot keep the pet for any reason, you must return the animal to Fetch A Friend Rescue. There is no guarantee that because you apply for the dog that you are going to adopt that dog. We seriously consider all applications but if we should suggest another dog for your home, it is because we truly know these dogs and possibly there is another dog that is a better fit. We strive for as best of a match as possible. Proper placement takes into consideration many things, including size, male/female, activity level, children and ages of the children, fencing or lack of, amount of time dog will spend home alone, and many other considerations. When a dog is posted we may receive up to 50 applications in a matter of hours. You will receive an email if selected to come and meet this dog.

ABOUT ME!: Handsome Porky was found as a stray in the city of Syracuse. He was likely a discarded breeding stud. He has only known love and spoiling since arriving to us! He loves big cozy beds, big stuffed toys, and wearing warm clothes on a cold day! Porky is a gentle giant but also a bull in a china shop! You will need sturdy legs around this bulldozer! He has worked hard on his jumping and impulse control and has done wonders with our trainer. He is so eager to learn and responds amazingly to clicker training and positive reinforcement!
He is low to the ground and a big boy. Porky recently had entropion surgery to correct the eyelid on one of his eyes.
Porky is pretty dog selective and happiest on his own. He will be happy to have a home where he is your one and only baby!
He does not like un altered male dogs and no kitties!
Although he occasionally loves to play with most large females he does not wish to share his home with one. He does not like to share his toys with other dogs.
Porky was heart worm positive when he was found on the streets, likely from life outdoors. Since being with us for so long he is now heart worm treated and tested negative! He will need to remain on heart worm meds for life. He loves going for walks with our volunteers too! This guy walks great on a harness! He loves wearing clothes and won’t go outside in the cold without them on! He is looking for a loving devoted adopter to spoil him rotten.
Porky is neutered, heart worm negative, microchipped, current on vaccinations and parasite preventions! Porky requires a vet reference for adoption. As he requires lifelong heart worm meds and occasional ear meds his adopter will need an existing vet.

ABOUT: Adorable Chase was found as a stray roaming the streets of South Carolina and no one ever came forward to claim him. This little cutie pie is all puppy and he sure loves to play! He is seeking an active home that will keep him exercised daily and give him tons of cuddles. He would benefit from a fenced yard to run laps in, and plenty of daily enrichment and mental stimulation. This guy is the absolute sweetest and loves to cuddle and be close to his humans when it is down time. He will cuddle right up with you on the couch and fall right asleep in your lap.
Chase is crate trained, clean in his kennel and never has an accident! He is a young pup who needs a home that will crate him when they are not home to keep him out of trouble. He loves toys, loves to play ball, go for long walks with our volunteers and is eager to please! ABOUT ME!: I was adopted in August of 2020 by a great woman who totally understood me. The kind folks at Fetch a Friend Rescue in Seneca Falls brought me up from Tennessee and watched over me while I waited for my forever home. I had a couple previous owners before, but they didn’t read my full bio and when they brought me home, they couldn’t take care of me, so I went back to the rescue until my former mom got me.
In early October, mom let me romp around off leash in the woods. When I came back to her, I was pretty badly hurt. I was rushed to Cornell, where I had two surgeries after a log penetrated my abdomen and severed my colon. The surgeries went well and my incisions healed really well. Miraculously, I have no long-term physical issues from the traumatic event—Cornell gave me a clean bill of health after a few post-op check-ups.
When I came home from the hospital, I couldn’t tolerate sharing the house with my doggy sister anymore. I growled at her and snapped every chance I got. My mom tried separating us with baby gates and working to counter-condition me to like her presence per the Cornell behaviorist, but it hasn’t worked. It’s not tenable for us to keep living together, so I’m ready to find a new home.
My mom was super active with me; she took me for walks, runs, and even did nose work training with me!! Earlier this year my mom brought home a little dog sister for me! I wasn’t sure what to make of her at first, but then we became best buddies and would play together and run around all over the house while I taught her how to be a good girl. But then I got injured and since then I have not been ok with her even though she had nothing to do with my injury. Traumatic ordeals can cause this shift of behavior towards a sibling dog.
But anyways- I am a super smart girl!! My mom taught me new tricks on rainy days when we’re stuck inside and I learn them really fast. Especially if she has yummy treats! My mom had taught me all kinds of commands like sit, down, stay, up, high five, paw, between, through, sit left, speak, hush, circle, crate, and wait. That’s a lot, right?! We also did nose work together because I LOVE to sniff, so she puts my brain and sniffer to good use. I’m super food motivated, so I am easy to teach!
I can be pretty affectionate in the way that husky dogs are. I like to lean up against my mom and her friends while they pet me-it’s my way of trying to hug humans. I like the occasional cuddle on the couch, and I am happy to be petted pretty much always. Sometimes I want some “me time,” and so I’ll put myself in my crate and have a quiet rest. When I’m tired or stressed out, I’ll also go to my crate. It’s my safe space and my personal retreat space! Sometimes I’ll spend the night in my crate and other times I will climb up on the couch and pass out there.
Like other young huskies, I have a lot of energy! In the morning I like to go in and tell my mom that it’s time to wake up and take me for a walk. Then after my morning exercise, mom gives me breakfast! I am a really good eater; I’m not picky about my kibble. After breakfast, I settle into my crate so mom can go to work. When she comes home, she takes me for another walk! I’m a really good doggy when I’m exercised 2-3 times a day. I like to sit in the kitchen and watch mom make dinner, just in case she drops some scraps, but I sit patiently-no jumping up or onto counters for me! Sometimes after dinner, I’ll pick out a toy from my basket and take it over to my mom for her to throw and for me to chase, but if mom is busy or tired, I’m also happy to chew on a treat or settle in for the night.
Some other fun facts about me: I am super soft and don’t get too smelly, haha! I am SUPER loyal once you earn my respect. I can be slow to warm up to new people, but once I get to know them and I am comfortable with them, I am their best friend ever. I have never once destroyed or chewed on anything I wasn’t supposed to. I am also VERY well house trained; I take pride in my record of having never had an accident in the house. I LOVE walks, but also love wildlife so like pretty much all husky dogs, I cannot ever be off-leash (unless in a securely fenced yard). Mom has helped me get better about ignoring squirrels and chipmunks with positive reinforcement training, but if a deer crosses our path, you better hang on tight! And though I really like people when I know them, the vet scares me and the groomer scares me, so I appreciate love, support, and treats if I need to see either.
I like routines and consistency in my life. Because I’m so smart I learn routines pretty quickly; when mom gets in the shower, I go right into my crate because I know after her shower that she will go out for a little while. I like my crate just fine—I’m quiet and calm in it. When mom gets home and lets me out of my crate, I go right to the door so she can let me outside to potty. Then, when I come back in, I look for lots of love, ear scratches, and belly rubs!
I really like people once I have had a chance to get to know them, but it takes me a bit to achieve that comfort level. I really like respectful people who will pay attention to me and pet me when I ask for it, but who will respect my space if I don’t.
I have met a few kids at friends’ houses and I have been very sweet to them, but they were well behaved and didn’t pull my tail, chase me, or crowd me. I would probably be fine in a house with kids old enough to respect my space and who weren’t looking for a snuggle buddy. I like being petted, but I don’t want anyone curled up all over me or hanging onto me!
I am OK if we pass by a dog when I am walking on leash as long as their owner is responsible and doesn’t let the dog get all in my face. If you distract me with treats, I’m happy to walk on by and leave the other dog alone!
I was so sad to leave my mom, but will be happy to be the only dog in my new home. I hope I can find a loving new home where I get lots of exercise and mental stimulation, and in return you will get a super smart, loving, and loyal companion who will give you lots of love!
I am spayed, heart worm negative, micro chipped, current on vaccinations and parasite preventions.

ABOUT: Handsome Jordan was found in the city of Syracuse as a stray wandering the streets. After spending time at animal control, he was never reclaimed. As you can see, this sweet boy had his poor ears very poorly chopped off by whoever owned him prior to rescue. Jordan is just a pup still but wants nothing more than love and cuddles. He will chase a ball around the yard- and sure loves to chew on his nylabones and bully make toys! Only durable toys for this power chewer- no stuffed ones please! Jordan loves to give hugs, lean into you for belly rubs, ear rubs and lots of pets! He loves being bathed, is a dream on a leash for walks, has learned his basic commands and is a star with our trainer. Jordan is seeking a home where he will be the one and only pet in your life. Kennel life is not for him and Jordan is rapidly losing weight due to kennel stress. Despite how many walks he gets during the day, enrichment and playtime he desires to be in a home environment with a stable routine. He is very eager to get into a loving home and provide someone lucky with endless cuddles. Jordan has a lot of love to give and is just the sweetest boy ever.
Jordan is now neutered, heart worm negative, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and current on his parasite preventions.

ABOUT: Handsome Lucky is a sweet young boy who is very submissive to everyone. This calm sweetheart thinks everyone is his boss and he is eager to please. He is a lover who wants to give hugs and be kissed and loved.
He is an adorable brindle boy who deserves all the love in the world. Found as a stray roaming the street, Lucky was found heart worm positive. He has since been treated and completed his month of crate rest. Lucky gets along with all dogs, and will need a home with a fenced yard. When he is feeling nervous he has the urge to bolt. This will subside once he is in a stable home environment. The leash makes him a bit nervous and our trainer is working on boosting his confidence. He is not yet up for long distance leash walks but is now confidently walking around our parking lot and responds well to positive reinforcement training and clicker training! No negative training for this boy unless you want to make him lose all trust in you! He is a sensitive soul who responds well to force free methods. He enjoys going for car rides with you and will even hold your hand for emotional support! Lucky is housebroken, always keeps a clean kennel, is learning that toys are fun, and we have never heard this boy bark or whine at all! He would do best with a confident dog in the home that can teach him how to be confident and that the world is not so scary!
Lucky is neutered, heart worm treated, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and parasite preventions.

ABOUT: Mirabel came to us from a southern shelter where she was found as an emaciated stray. She was skin and bones and had an injury to her tail that required amputation of it. She was also heart worm positive when found! The poor girl was a mess but has since been treated and is a brand new healthy girl! True to the breed- Mirabel is an active young Lab looking for an equally active home with a large yard for her to play endless games of fetch in! She absolutely loves to play fetch and could play all day if you let her! She also loves the water, and can always be found splashing in the kiddie pools and diving right in!
Mirabel loves to go for long walks and hikes, and really needs a home that is going to provide her with the daily exercise she needs. She is clean in her kennel, gets along with other dogs who are not too bossy and in her face, and will be a very loyal companion for someone. She will need to be crated when she is home alone as she will still get into the trash and scavenge for food due to being starved, Once she is in a home and knows she is safe and has a routine she will stop being so food crazed. Mirabel is a smart girl who likes to work her mind and loves to eat her meals out of treat dispensing toys and puzzle bowls (will be sent home with her!)
Mirabel is now spayed, heart worm treated, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and current on her parasite preventions.

ABOUT: Beautiful Betty White came to us in January from Syracuse animal control after being found as an extremely emaciated stray roaming the streets. She was a 1 on the body score chart and yet had the sweetest disposition towards everyone she met. Betty has been with us over 100 days now putting on weight, battling ear infections, and a deadly uterus infection that would have taken her life had she not been found. Betty had Pyometra likely due to the numerous litters she had in her prior life. She was used over and over for breeding and then starved and dumped. Betty is a bit of a local celebrity, everyone in town knows her. She loves meeting new people whenever she can, loves to dress up, go for long walks and she lives for going for a car ride and riding shot gun. It is one of her absolute favorite things to do! She will run right to the car and sit by the door waiting to jump in. Betty is one of the best ambassadors for her breed, she is a social butterfly! She was a superstar at her many vet appointments, adored by the vet staff and would run in the door and throw herself on the ground for a belly rub! Betty is 100% housebroken and would hold it for 12 hours if she needed to! She is not destructive and does not require a crate at home. Betty is active when it comes to walks and playtime, but she is also a great couch potato and will want to be by your side on the furniture.
Betty has some quirks- she hates the hose when its being sprayed, but loves a bath! She is not good with small animals and ideally wants to be your one and only pet where she can get all of the attention she missed out on prior to rescue. Betty will come home with her extensive wardrobe that was generously donated to her by donors when she arrived, a new bed, toys, treats food and her collar and leash! Betty has chronic dry eye in one of her eyes and will require lifelong over the counter eye drops.
